Mexico's Growing Role in World Trade: Guajardo

In the past 25 years, the incidence of foreign trade in Mexican economy has gone from 20 % of GDP to 65 % explained the Minister of Economy, Ildefonso Guajardo Villarreal.

During the award ceremony of National Quality Award 2014, the federal official said that as a result of combination of public policy and the efforts of private sector, Mexico's trade world importance has grown.

Mexico is now the largest exporter in the world of 33 manufactured goods and 23 agricultural as well as the leading exporter of Latin America, he said at the event held at the official residence of Los Pinos.

This has been achieved thanks to quality and innovation of production processes, which have a continuous improvement since it was introduced, 25 years ago, the National Quality Award, which recognizes the most competitive, innovative and socially responsible companies.

The world recognizes the ability of Mexicans to innovate, change and adapt to the versatile world in which we live, and the proof is that, on average, from 2012 to 2014 foreign direct investment reached 30.000 billion, said the federal official.
